This policy explains what personal information Kat Vandal Studio (“Kat”, “we”) collects through katvandalart.com, why, and what rights you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
Kat Vandal Studio, London, United Kingdom, is the data controller. Contact: hello@katvandalart.com.
What we collect and why
- Newsletter. Your email address, plus anything you choose to add (name, country, phone). We use it only to send Kat’s newsletter: new work, exhibitions and studio news. Legal basis: your consent. We record when and where you signed up and the wording you agreed to, so we can prove consent.
- Enquiries. When you send an enquiry or commission request we receive your name, email, message and the artwork you asked about, to reply and handle any sale. Legal basis: your request (steps before a contract) and our legitimate interest in replying.
- Visitor statistics. We count page visits to understand which work people look at. This uses no cookies and no advertising trackers. We record the page, the referring site, your approximate country and device type. Your IP address is not stored; it is combined with a daily-changing secret into an anonymous code that can’t be traced back to you. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
Cookies
This site does not use tracking or advertising cookies, so there is no cookie banner. Your browser stores small preferences (like light/dark mode and whether you’ve closed the newsletter pop-up) on your own device only.
Newsletter emails
Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe in one click and a link to update or delete your details. We can see whether an email was delivered, opened or a link was clicked, so we can remove addresses that bounce and understand what people find interesting.
Who processes your data for us
We never sell or share your details for marketing. We use these providers to run the site, under data-processing terms:
- Vercel (website hosting, file storage) — USA/EU
- Neon (database) — hosted with Vercel
- Resend (sending emails) — USA
Where data is processed outside the UK, it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. After you unsubscribe we keep only your email address and the date, so we never email you by mistake.
- Enquiries: up to 6 years where they relate to a sale (tax records), otherwise up to 2 years.
- Visitor statistics: 13 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your information, object to its use, or withdraw consent at any time. The quickest way for the newsletter is the “Update your details” link at the bottom of any email. Otherwise email hello@katvandalart.com and we’ll respond within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (or your local data protection authority in the EU).
